Pope Francis: “Do not forget that you are giving something great and unique: Christian hope, which is much more than a simple spiritual consolation, because it is based on the power of the Resurrection, witnessed by faith and works of charity.
In the radio scene, RM has its specific identity, which distinguishes it all over the world, remaining faithful to its original inspiration.
All the popes under whose pontificates RM has grown (Saint John Paul II, Benedict XVI and Pope Francis) have blessed and supported it. Pope Francis’ address to the RM World Family was particularly significant during the private audience on October 28, 2015, for the admirable synthesis he made of what he called “the charisma of Radio Maria”.
Renewed encouragement during RM Argentina’s 20th anniversary: “Since its creation, Radio Maria has aimed to help the Church in its work of evangelization, in its own way, that is to say by being close to the concerns and misfortunes of others through words of comfort and hope, born of faith and commitment to solidarity. A big and clear objective pursued with determination and constancy that has won attention and an unusual audience. »
The proclamation of the Word of God is a command of Jesus Christ given to the apostles: “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature: whoever believes and is baptized will be saved” (Mk 16:15). The Radio is placed in the perspective of the diffusion of the Word of God, alive and effective. Indeed, the radiophonic instrument carries the voice which, from the mouth of the speaker, reaches the ears of those who listen: fides ex auditu, “faith is born of what is heard” (Rm 10,17 ). The voice reaches to the heart of man and challenges him, where he is.
By this simple and effective means, RM wants to reach everyone to encourage them in the difficulties of life and look to the future with confidence. His attention is directed in particular to people who suffer physically and spiritually, to single people, the elderly, the needy, as well as to couples and families.
The central character of the Radio does not exclude but on the contrary reinforces the other means of social communication that technical and technological innovations bring.
“Mary, Mother of God and our Mother to all, who gives her name to your Radio and protects you, knows how to accomplish, from small and humble beginnings, great works”, Pope Francis.
Without a filial love for the Mother of God and the Mother of the Church, Radio Maria would be an inexplicable reality. The desire to help the Servant of the Lord in the work of saving souls is at the origin of Radio Maria and the source from which new initiatives are born. If the love for the Virgin Mary disappeared, Radio Maria would appear like a flower deprived of water. The very name “Radio Maria” indicates an identity and a sense of belonging. The radio is inspired by the Blessed Virgin and puts itself at her service. More than an idea, than a slogan, it is a name, a person: “And the name of the Virgin was Mary” (Lk 1,27).
Volunteering:
The RM project is based on the irreplaceable task of volunteers, whose missionary spirit must be a burning flame. “Give and it will be given to you in abundance” (Lk 6,38). The soul of the volunteer must be inflamed with the desire to help the Virgin Mary carry out her maternal work of peace and love. The spirit of volunteerism is a flame lit among all Radio Maria collaborators, including employees.
“Seek first the kingdom of God and all the rest will be given to you as well” (Lk 12:31).
RM renounces funding from advertising and other sources that may condition its mission, and relies solely on divine Providence, which passes through the generosity of its listeners >. Their support also validates the benefits of the programs.
A permanent miracle from the beginning and up to now in 77 countries, this very particular “economic model” has proven itself and will continue to do so, as we are witness to.
“You have trusted Providence, which has never deprived you of the means necessary on a daily basis: for the modernization of technologies in order to have current tools as well as for the development of Radio, first in Italy and then in many countries. of the world, with surprising capillarity and rapidity”, Pope Francis.
